Patrick Trueman met Yolande while he was on holiday, and it was love at first sight - the relationship carried on by letter when he got home. Yolande then arrived in Walford and set to sorting out the state of the B&B. Surprisingly she became Dot Branning's primary confidante. Yolande's self-righteous husband turned up demanding her return to Tobago. She and Patrick managed to get him to leave without her and without 15,000 UK!
Yolande married Patrick in July 2004, settled in to be mistress of the Abercorn B & B, and hoped to foster a child as well. Stepson Paul's gangland slaying put paid to her hopes and she and Patrick took over the Minute Mart. Yolande has formed a fast friendship with Dot Branning, and was instrumental in getting the older ladies around the Square together socially. She helped Patrick where she could regarding the car lot. Despite her strong, no-nonsense presence in the Square, Yolande forgave Patrick for his brief affair with Pat Evans.
In September 2008, Patrick accidentally turned the chiller cabinet in the Minute Mart off and then sold the un-chilled food to customers, including Dot, which left her and others with food poisoning.
Because of complaints, the health inspector from the Minute Mart's head office turned up to check things out. The health inspector was impressed by how Yolande cleared things up and offered her a job in Birmingham where the Minute Mart's head office was located. Yolande accepted the job and started preparing right away. although Patrick wasn't as impressed with the situation and when confronted, said that he wanted to stay in Walford.
On 3rd October 2008 Yolande left for Birmingham leaving Patrick to run the Minute Mart in Walford. Patrick did go and visit Yolande for a while, but they realised that it wouldn't work out and decided to split up.
