Daughter of trucker Nathan, who got together with Bianca Jackson in 2002. Though not stupid, she never engages her brain before speaking. Since her dad died in a lorry crash in 2003, she and Bianca have become as thick as thieves.
In 2004 when Whitney was 12 Tony King, Bianca's fiancee started grooming Whitney and had a sexual relationship with her behind everyone's back. It stopped for a time when Tony was arrested for ABH on a young boy who propositioned Whitney.
Tony was released from prison on September 12th 2008 and they started their relationship again. Tony didn't like the fact that Whitney was growing up, wearing make up and attracting the attention of boys and so kept asking her to take her make up off because she no longer looked like "the 12 year old he fell in love with". So they had privacy when together, Tony managed to convince Bianca to get a lock on Whitney's door.
Libby Fox was helping out on the school play Romeo and Julie and thought that Whitney would be an ideal Julie, Whitney did do the play, not before Tony told her not to, then maybe she should, but in the end Whitney did the play with Peter Beale playing Romeo. When Peter and and Whitney were rehearsing one night, Tony came in and punched Peter because he was jealous of the amount of time they were spending together, rehearsing. Whitney managed to convince Peter not to tell anyone, even so his sister Lucy Beale found out and went round to the Jacksons to complain. Bianca found out and told him he can't keep protecting her as she was no longer a child. Which made Tony realise he no longer had a use for Whitney and dumped her.
Tony then proposed to Bianca which made Whitney spend a long time in her room. Bianca managed to talk her down and thought they needed a holiday, which they did for a few weeks. On returning Whitney and Tony became an item again.
Later Tony started to show an interest in Lauren Branning and Whitney became jealous of this and started to plan how her and Tony could run away together after her 16th birthday which involved buying tickets and getting her passport ready. Tony however didn't want to run away with her and so hid her passport.
On 8th December 2008 (Whitney's 16th birthday), Whitney finally told Bianca the truth about her relationship with Tony, Bianca called the police and managed to get Tony arrested. However, Whitney didn't want to talk to the police at first as she had convinced herself that she had been in love with Tony. In the end Bianca told her that she has been abused and that Tony had been raping her for years.
On 28th April 2009, Whitney got a stalker.
The stalker turned out to be her mother's unknown son, Ryan Malloy. who was conceived before her mother married Nathan Dean.
In June 2009, Whitney was in the cafe talking to a stranger when Nick Cotton burst in with Dotty Cotton in a drunk and violent rage and took everyone inside the cafe hostage.
The cafe was being minded by Heather Trott and Lucy Beale in the absence of Christian Clarke and Nick was brandishing the leg of a broken stool to keep everyone at bay. It was inevitable that with Lucy and Heather unable to gain access to the kitchen that a fire would break out and eventually the chip pan did catch fire. It was only when Dotty pointed out the blaze to Nick that Whitney's stranger friend was able to overpower Nick, tackle him to the floor and fight with him that everyone, including Whitney was able to escape relatively unharmed.
Recently it has become apparent that Whitney is struggling at school and is finding her exams hard. She has to date been due to sit at least 3 exams but when a teacher called to number 31 the week beginning 1st June 2009, Bianca Jackson learned that Whitney had yet to finish an exam. Whitney has complained that she has found the work hard due to the amount of schooling she has had to miss due to what happened with Tony King and admits that she doesn't see the point of sitting exams as she doesn't think they will serve her any use later in life.
Debra Dean is Whitney's blological mother. Whitney tracked her down earlier on this year after her 'affair' with Tony came to light. Debra made it clear that she was not interested in Whitney then and Whitney decided to forget about her and call Bianca her mum. Debra has recently re-appeared in Whitney's life and her intentions are gradually becoming clearer.
After hearing that her mother was due to be evicted from her flat due to her landlord not paying the mortgage, Whitney immediately said that Debra could move into number 31.
Since moving into number 31 Debra has started selling dodgy DVDs on the market, although she doesn't seem to have any permission from the market inspector to do this. Whitney has been roped into helping her mum to do this and Debra thinks she is a natural at this.
On 11 June 2009 Debra revealed that she did not plan to stick around London and instead planned to move to Greece. Whitney asked if this was just for a holiday, but Debra admitted no, this would be for good. At this stage Debra said that Whitney could come with her. Just after this Ricky approached them telling Debra that people had been asking around the Square after her. This scared Debra and she ran off.
Later in the same episode, Whitney and Debra were in number 31 together when the doorbell sounded. Remembering what Ricky had said earlier, Debra shouted at Whitney not to answer the door. Instead Whitney looked through the front window and saw 2 policemen standing on the front door. Whitney panicked thinking someone must've tipped them off about the dodgy DVDs they'd been selling on the market. Debra told Whitney to hide in the back of the house with the DVDs whilst she dealt with the police. She dealt with the police and although the reason behind their visit is not yet clear, it doesn't seem as if it's anything to do with the dodgy DVDs.
On 12 June 2009, Debra admitted to Ricky and Bianca that she didn't want Whitney with her when she went to Greece, referring to Whitney as extra "baggage" and immediately withdrew the invitation to accompany her to Greece. This left poor Whitney heartbroken. Debra packed her bags and left Albert Square. Before she left, she handed Whitney a package asking her to look after it for her. Debra told Whitney not to open the package saying she would be sorry if she did.
