| Character: | Tracey |
| Played by: | Jane Slaughter |
| Dates on screen: | 1985 to present |
The Queen Vic's long-suffering barmaid, Tracey is possibly the most famous extra on British television. She has appeared in EastEnders since 1985, first as a market trader (selling flowers), and in 1989 became a barmaid in the soap's pub.
She rarely appears in storylines, her purpose being to man the bar while the main characters go about their own business.
In the 1990s, she was close friends with Debbie Bates, and is godmother to her daughter, Clare.
When Dennis Rickman arrived in Walford, and was steadily making his way around the local ladies, he and Tracey had a one-night-stand. This was revealed to viewers when Dennis handed Tracey's knickers back to her over The Vic's bar. However, in December 2004, Tracey mentioned being married.
When Sam Mitchell dug up Den Watts's body in The Vic's cellar, she knocked Tracey out and locked her in the bathroom. It was Tracey who alerted the police, resultig in Sam's arrest.
In August 2008, the character's nature was questioned by Sean Slater, who asked her why she never said much. She replied that she just kept her head down and got on with her job, but admitted that she thought the Mitchells were "stark ravin' mental".
She was also involved in Phil's ongoing alcoholism storyline in April 2009, when he shouted at her and tried to flirt with her whilst drunk.
In 2011 she revealed to Kat Moon that she'd split up with her husband and that her son now lives with him.
