Stella was first introduced as Phil Mitchell's new lawyer, whom he asked to make arrangements for the purchase of Walford Video, the local video shop. However, when Phil needed some papers from her, and she arrived at The Arches without them, he sacked and insulted her.
Her car broke down outside The Arches, and Phil told her he'd get one of his mechanics to fix it, and gave Stella a lift home - however, she had locked herself out, so Phil had to break the door down. She revealed that her decree absolute had come in the post that morning, and cried. Phil fixed the door while she found his papers, only for him to find her asleep on her sofa with the papers in her hand. The next day, Stella arrived at The Queen Vic to thank Phil for helping her out, and helped him clean up a mess Ben and Abi had made. Before Stella left, she and Phil shared a brief kiss.
They soon began dating, but Phil's former step-son, Ian Beale, warned Stella about Phil, telling her about his previous relationships. Stella tried to avoid Phil, but he tracked her down and they resumed their relationship. When they were out on a further date, Phil was in the toilet when Ben phoned, and Stella answered, telling Ben she couldn't wait to meet him - his reply was to call her a stupid, ugly cow and tell her to leave them alone. She then left the restaurant as soon as Phil returned. Soon afterwards, she met Ben when Phil brought him to her apartment, and he spilled water over her only, and hand-written, copy of her Curriculum Vitae.
When Stella was evicted from her flat, just prior to Christmas, the Mitchells temporarily took her in at the Vic. However, an aura of discomfort was evident, based in Ben's continuing dislike of Stella. He did, however, upon talking with his dad, agree to her living them for the foreseeable future. He engaged in a feud and guerilla warfare with her, eventually seeing her ordered to depart by Phil.
When Phil realised Ben's trickery, he invited Stella to return. The two seemed to bond genuinely with a trip to the Towers. It wasn't long before Stella began to manipulate Ben into her way of thinking, however she did so by abusing him. She convinced Ben that he was bed wetting, burnt his hand with a hot spoon and persisted to put him down by calling him names. She stood by and watched as bullies kicked him to the ground.
It was on her wedding day to Phil that Ben openly confessed about the abuse after Stella caused him to bleed by digging her nails into his chest. A car chase pursued and Stella jumped to her death. The history behind the characters disturbance was never fully explored but hinted at childhood neglect from her parents.
