The first owner of the Bridge Street mini-market (First 'til Last) when EastEnders began in 1985. Saeed had recently been forced into an arranged marriage to Naima, and felt strongly that she should conform to how he believed a good Muslim wife should behave. Unable to deal with Naima's desire to become more westernised, and with his pride dented when she rejected him in the bedroom, Saeed resorted to visiting strippers and making lewd phonecalls to Naima's friend Debbie. When his actions were uncovered, the Jefferys already fragile marriage collapsed, and, shame-faced, Saeed left the square in order to return to Bangladesh.
