Summary

Since the death of her mother and sister in a fire, Ruby's felt alone in the world. Her father Johnny packed her off to boarding school, but she hated it and followed him to Albert Square. She rapidly formed a seemingly solid friendship with Stacey Slater.

Her unrequited crush on Danny Moon left her feeling humiliated and underscored her difficult communications with her father. After making peace with Johnny, and with his live-in girlfriend (Tina Stewart), Ruby elected to return to boarding school to complete her exams.

Ruby has since learned the truth about her father's thuggish practices and that her mum's and sister's deaths were the result of gangland revenge for her father's actions. Supported by Stacey and Peggy, Ruby left the Allen household, and only returned when Johnny made her a priority. Unfortunately, that was after Ruby's discovery of Johnny's affair with his barmaid led to Tina's departure.

Ruby found solace in the arms of Juley Smith, until she learned that Phil Mitchell had paid Juley to date and deflower her. She refused to believe Juley's professions of true love and recently drank herself into a stupor. Only Phil Mitchell's timely administration of CPR saved her life, and a brief reunion with Juley ended when she was unable to trust him. She agreed to go on holiday with her father. Unbeknownst to her, he destroyed her mobile phone and put their house up for sale. Ruby recently reappeared in Walford. During her brief conversation with Stacey, whom she ungratefully gave a seriously cold shoulder, Ruby admitted that she and her father were now living together in Essex.

This little holiday went up in smoke when the Mitchell brothers turned up. Ruby discovered her father was drinking again and, ignoring the thugs apparently bent on separating her father's soul from his body, went into a snit, culminating in a snotty ultimatum that Johnny confess to every crime he ever committed or she would "change my name, and never speak of you again". Johnny immediately knuckled under and went meekly off with the police, and Ruby returned to the Slater home in Walford. Ruby developed a bit of a crush on Grant Mitchell.

Since soon after his return to London, Ruby has been in a relationship with Stacey's roguish big brother Sean, who, in truth, was using her only as a meal ticket. After her father's death, and Jake's subsequent departure, the newly-wealthy young lady moved, with Sean, into Number 41 (which Johnny had owned since 2004), inviting Stacey and Bradley Branning to join them.

Ruby departed the square on the evening of November 23rd, 2006 - after having unwittingly revealed Sean's return to his mum, she made plans to move out to her Essex home with Sean. Ultimately, Sean chose to remain in Walford, throwing Johnny's urn at Ruby. She left the square embittered and angry, shouting reminders that she was Johnny Allen's daughter.
