Summary
Deceased in March 2003 from a heart attack (he had a history of heart trouble, nearly dying in 1998) Roy's main storylines were either financial (usually cock-ups caused by son Barry Evans) or else romantic (wife Pat's undying flame for previous husband Frank Butcher).
His big storyline involved long-lost love Jane Williams returning to his life with the son he never knew, Nathan. Jane was dying of cancer, but wanted Nathan and Roy to bond before her death. Despite Roy's best efforts, Nathan turned out to be a snake, and was unceremoniously chased out of Walford by all the Evans' family.
Not too long after, Roy had his fatal heart attack after learning that Pat had hid her knowledge of Ricky Butcher and daughter-in-law Natalie's affair from him. Roy evidently died intestate, leaving Pat not only bereft but homeless since Barry kicked her out before the body was buried! Poor Roy, all he wanted was a quiet life!
