Summary

Ricky's history in Walford is rather complex; always a bit thick and too trusting, he often seemed the loser in life's game. He left Walford in April 2000, staying away until October 2002.

Relationship with Sam Mitchell

His marriage to Sam was a elopement to Gretna Green by two schoolchildren; she left him when she started hanging around the modelling world.

Relationship with Bianca Jackson

Later he fell for, and married, Bianca, and despite problems, including his affair with her best friend, Natalie Price, they were happy for quite a while, even having a son, Liam Butcher after aborting daughter Natasha, who suffered from spina bifida.

Ricky tried to become a motorcycle racer, but never succeeded at anything, except getting convicted for dealing in stolen cars, thanks to his long-time employer Phil Mitchell Eventually, he and Bianca broke up, due to her affair with Dan Sullivan.

Return to Walford part 1

After a visit to Bianca in Manchester, where she was struggling, and had become involved in drugs, Ricky returned to Walford, with son Liam. Upon his return, Ricky immediately proved he'd learned nothing in the intervening years, by returning to Natalie Evans arms, while living with his first ex-wife, Sam Mitchell Ricky's return to Walford saw very few storylines, but things looked like they could be back on the up when his sister, Janine, asked him to work at the car lot, and move in with her, after husband Barry's death. Pat and Nat persuaded Ricky to do some investigating, which led to Janine's confession about pushing Barry. Shocked and discusted, Ricky moved out and away from Walford.

Return to Walford Part 2

On March 2008 he returned to Walford along with his two sisters Janine Butcher and Diane Butcher for the funeral of their father Frank Butcher.

Since the funeral, he has managed to get back in contact with his son Liam Butcher and his ex wife Bianca Jackson and her other children and they are now living under the same roof in Pat Butcher's house.

Tiffany's Parentage

On 6 February 2009 which was Bianca's daughter Tiffany Dean's birthday, Ricky found out that Bianca had doubts about who Tiffany's father was and also found out that he might be Tiffany's biological father, since him and Bianca slept together in Manchester six years previously, nine months before Tiffany was born.

A DNA test was done and it was revealed that he is infact the father. Bianca and Ricky decided to keep it a secret (even from Tiffany) about the results to spare the feelings of Whitney Dean (Bianca's partner's daughter), because she was still getting over what happened with Tony King.

However, Ricky has told Janine, and she has promised to keep it a secret, though eventually it came out and Tiffany embraced her newfound father and Whitney was OK with it after finding out that newcomer Ryan Malloy was her half brother and that Lily Branning was her half-niece.
