Summary
Phil Mitchell met Nadia, a Romanian refugee, in a bar in Southampton, and agreed to marry her so that she could stay in England. He took her back to Walford and they married in July 1993. Nadia then left Walford to live with boyfriend Marco. She returned in November 1993, as she and Phil had to prove to the authorities that they were a genuine couple. This caused friction between Phil and his new girlfriend, Kathy Beale, who he had neglected to tell about Nadia.
Nadia moved into The Vic, and after their relationship was deemed real by the home office, Nadia kept this from Phil and continued to live with him, having fallen for him. She made life difficult for Kathy and seduced a drunken Phil at Christmas. She then told Kathy, which resulted in [{Grant Mitchell]] throwing her out and threatening to kill her if she ever returned.
When Phil and Kathy decided to marry, Phil went in search of Nadia to divorce her. She initially refused, but then blackmailed Phil for £1000 to start a new life in Germany. He gave her the money and she granted him a divorce.
