Summary

Dr Wright was the Square's new GP, who was originally happily married to Rob Minter when she arrived when the couple moved into 1 Albert Square in December, 2006. It soon transpired that due to May's infertility, they were attempting (apparently not for the first time) a course of IVF, which subsequently failed.

Shortly after their arrival, May discovered her husband's affair with Dawn Swann. To add insult to injury, she also deduced not long after, from her husband's ill-advised words, that he was also the father of her unborn child.

After discovering Dawn did not intend to keep the baby, she offered her money to effectively 'buy' her husband's lovechild. What followed was a long-winded twisted deception, that kept even the viewers guessing - with Rob's constant bed-swapping and May's questionable state of mind.

It all culminated on the day of Rob and Dawn's engagement party at the Vic, with Rob finally having filed for divorce from May. Persuading Dawn to visit his parents, he took her on a long drive to a secluded house, where May was waiting for her-and her baby. Restraining and drugging Dawn, she prepared to perform a caesarian section.

Dawn was able to fight back and free herself from Rob and May's clutches, fleeing home to Walford. Hours later, she went into labour on a tube train, en route to her mother's home in the Cotswolds. Baby Summer Swann was born on 19 June 2007.

May's desperation for the child knew no bounds as she snuck into the maternity ward and Dawn awoke to find her baby in May's arms. In a last ditch attempt to have Summer, May doubled her offer to Dawn who refused to sell her baby and called for help. May was removed from the hospital room, but it was not the last Dawn would see of the GP. Once Dawn and her daughter had arrived home in Walford, May called round with baby clothes and toys and hopes for a reconciliation, but the police were not far behind. May was arrested for her attempts to kidnap Summer.

May's Return

Posing as one of Jase Dyer's customer's, complete with fake name, May returned to the Square in the summer of 2008. Playing on Jase's sympathies and good nature, May ingratiated herself with the decorator and learned about Dawn and Summer's situation through him. As a result of her growing desperation to see 'her' baby one last time, she arrived in Walford and found Jase at home alone with Summer. After saying a difficult goodbye to Summer, May was horrified at Dawn's living situation and resolved to rescue Summer.

May made her final visit to Albert Square on Summer's birthday, where gained entry to the Miller's home, despite Mickey and Dawn's best efforts, and begged Dawn to let her take Summer. She confessed to Dawn that Rob had divorced her and was expecting a baby with his new fiancee, and that she had been sectioned following her arrest the year before.

After a fraught showdown with Dawn, May was locked out of the bedroom where Dawn and Mickey barricaded themselves in with Summer. At her lowest ebb, May sat down in the Millers' kitchen, switched on the gas oven, and lit a cigarette, taking her life in the explosion and trapping Dawn, Summer and Mickey in the fire that ensued.
