Summary
When the Fowlers went to Ireland to meet their Flaherty relatives, Mary was a teen in trouble. Although she supposedly had a level head on her shoulders, she had somehow become involved with an older married man and was on the verge of becoming the town scandal. She and Mark hit it off right away, so she came back to Walford with the Fowlers.
Although initially Pauline adored Mary (feeling she was a young Lou) they couldn't live in the same house, and Mary was often in the position of having to find new digs. She also managed to come between Joe Wicks and Sarah Hills, broke her pelvis while on holiday (leading to a stint of driving Phil Mitchell nuts as she moved onto his couch while on crutches), and then got involved with Matthew Rose and Robbie Jackson, before leaving Walford with her father Conor and Ruth Fowler.
During her time in the Square, Mary's closest tie was with Mark, whom she treated as a surrogate father, as well as helping out on the stall.
