Summary

Backstory

Manda lived on Albert Square over 20 years ago and went to school with Phil Mitchell, Minty Peterson, Grant Mitchell and Nigel Bates. She dated Phil in her teens. She later got married and left the area, and in 1989 had a son named Adam, who had spina bifida. In 2004 she divorced her husband and had been single ever since. She worked as a pottery teacher, giving classes in the community centre and lived alone (Adam off at university) with her cat Mr Mistofolees.

Storylines

Minty Peterson bumped into his old schoolfriend Manda when he went to her pottery class, and they started dating. Minty was worried that Manda really wanted to be with her ex, Phil, and after her saw her kissing Phil (she was saying thank you to him for allowing Minty a day off work), he confronted her. She assured him she would never cheat on him.

Manda later got kicked out of her flat by her landlord, and moved in with Minty after Garry Hobbs and Dawn Swann left Walford. Manda's rude, abnoxious wheelchair-bound son Adam came to stay with Manda and Minty and caused friction between them as he took an instant dislike to Minty. Adam found Sam Mitchell's mobile number on a scrap of paper with a heart drawn around it, and tried to suggest Minty was cheating on Manda. Minty and Manda made up after Adam returned to university.

Manda worked out that Darren Miller was the father of Heather Trott's baby, George, and agreed to keep the secret to herself. When the secret was revealed Minty was angry at Manda for not telling him, as Darren was their lodger and he was once married to Heather. They reconciled briefly, but Manda then discovered that Minty had been hiding Sam in a flat on George Street while she was wanted for her part in the murder of Den Watts as well as skipping bail twice and being under suspicion for the murder of Archie Mitchell. Sam was caught by the police, and again Manda and Minty made up, deciding that they were even, but Manda was then suspicious that Minty was having an affair as he had been sneaking off and not explaining where he was going. Adam and Libby Fox looked for evidence in the flat and found a letter that Sam had sent from prison, and showed Manda who realised that Minty had been visiting Sam. Manda asked Minty if he loved Sam, which he admitted, and she told him that when she returned to Walford she had been looking for Phil, not him. She then left him to live in Oxford near Adam's uni.
