Joe was a chef, and worked for Ian Beale at The Meal Machine. He was gay, HIV-positive and friends with Mark Fowler, who he encouraged to tell his parents about his HIV. Ian sacked him when he found out from associate George Lawler that Joe had HIV. Before leaving Walford, Joe was the last person to see Eddie Royle alive, and returned to testify at Clyde Tavernier's trial. He later died off screen from AIDS, and his mother Jackie informed Mark.
