Summary
Irene arrived in Walford just as her ex-husband Ted left to start a new life in South Africa. The worst example of poisonous mother-love in relation to son Tony and daughter Sarah, Irene was also into every new-age fad that came down the pike! She meditated, feng shuied, lit candles, did aromatherapy, you name it! Surprisingly, Irene found love with Terry Raymond, and eventually married him once Terry had divorced his first wife Louise. Things seemed happy for a while until Irene had a fling with Troy Harvey in the autumn/winter of 1999 (Terry threw Troy out on Christmas Day 1999). Terry and Irene went on a holiday to Portugal with the insurance money from the First Til Last, but Irene never returned from the holiday, saying that she couldn't live with Terry anymore. The only person who regretted her disappearance was best friend Rosa di Marco who also left soon after!
