Heather was first seen at a party at Shirley Carter's flat. When a fight broke out, she hit a man with her bag whilst Shirl pinned him down. Heather slept in the same bed as Garry Hobbs that night, but they didn't have sex. Shirley later got her to clean her flat after the party, which angered Heather's Mummy, who constantly phoned her to berate her.
She was later seen collecting sponsors for a sponsored silence she was taking part in as part of the local Brownies group. No one sponsored her, and both Ian Beale and Jay Brown mocked her for being overweight. Jane empathised with her, and sat down with her for a slice of cake. She sponsored her on behalf of Kathy's and Beale's Plaice. When Ian mocked her again, Jane refused to marry him.
When the couple talked it out and eloped, Jane called on Heather to be a witness (albeit silent).
On 1st May 2009, it was revealed to viewers that Heather was pregnant, this storyline is currently in progress and as of yet, the father is yet to be revealed.
On 4th May, it was revealed that she was 13 weeks pregnant as she had just had a scan and already got a picture of the baby. She decided that she would write to the baby's father telling him that he is going to be a dad. Throughout the day she kept putting it off and was given advice from various people including Ben Mitchell and Roxy Mitchell. In the end she decided against it and told her picture of George Michael about it.
Heather and Lucy Beale were doing Christian Clarke a favour minding the cafe in his absence when Nick Cotton burst in with Dotty Cotton in a drunk and violent rage and took everyone inside the cafe hostage.
With Lucy and Heather unable to gain any access to the kitchen it was inevitable that a fire would break out, and eventually the chip pan caught fire. It was only then that it was possible to overpower Nick and eventually a stranger managed this by tackling him to the floor and starting a fight with him. Heather and everyone escaped from the fire and eventually the stranger did too, leaving Nick bloodied and battered on the floor although he did also escape via the back of the cafe later. Shortly after this the cafe exploded.
Heather was of course extremely angry with Christian for putting her in a situation like this because she's pregnant and Nick pushed her around the cafe. In the next episode she was seen and heard ranting to Christian about how he said he wouldn't be gone long before her best mate Shirley Carter stepped in to calm her down. Christian of course though doesn't know about Heather's pregnancy as she has decided to tell no-one about it.
