Gus was a little used character - who for much of his life in Walford - worked as the market cleaner.
His main passion though was poetry, which he used to seduce a number of women over the years, including Sonia and Keisha, Winston's niece who he ultimately left the Square with to start a new life as a roadie.
He got given Wellard when Robbie Jackson left for India.
When Wellard bit Ian Beale in 2005, Ian wanted Wellard to be put down, but Gus started a petition with the help of Deano Wicks and Dawn Swann to help get wellard free with T-shirts saying Walford One Owed Freedom on Alfie Moon's stall. In the end Wellard came back to Walford on 12th January 2006
His brother, Juley undoubtedly cast shadows on Gus' life in Walford, which led to lots of problems over the years.
In 2004, Gus got rid of a handgun which he found in his brothers bag. He found out that Juley had been involved in some crime including stealing some charity money, which lead to Juley leaving in April 2005.
When taking a trip with Dawn Swann to france to meet her father Mike Swann in September 2005, he took Juley with him where Mike exposed Juley as a con man, at the end of the trip, Juley came home back to live in Walford
Gus was a popular man in Walford, who seldom made enemies. The most dangerous of these though had to be his room-mate Sean Slater, who tied him up and who would have probably killed him had Stacey not intervened.
