Summary
Friendships
Gary became depressed after his divorce and tried to take his life, however his best mate Minty Peterson saved his life. He ended up staying with him in his flat with Naomi Julien.
They currently work together as mechanics at the Arches.
They have had their falling outs(Minty nearly marrying Garry's mother as one of them), but they still remain friends.
Relationships
Lynne
He was going out with Lynne Slater when he first arrived in the square on 18th Spetember 2000. He didn't really want to settle down with Lynne at first, but they got engaged and married on 7th December 2001. It was then revealed that Lynne had slept with Beppe Di Marco, Beppe revelaed this on the wedding day and told Lynne that he loved her, in the end Lynne chose Gary and they married.
Lynne was devastated by the news that Gary has slept with Laura and had made her pregnant, but she forgave him, although they split up in July 2003 because Gary wanted to be with Laura who was in labour rather than her.
After Lynne got back with Gary, she found out she was Pregnant with his child. When they found they were expecting a girl, the called her Vivienne, after Lynne's mother. In the summer of 2004 a funfair ride fell down on the square and the stress of this made Lynne miscarriage late at eight months.
After the funeral, Lynne divorced Gary and moved out of Walford for good.
Laura
After the funeral of Tom Banks, Garry had a one night stand with Laura Beale, Ian's then wife and on Christmas Day, laura told Garry that she was pregnant with his child.
After being thrown out by the slaters, Garry started living with Laura and Bobby (who he named after Bobby Moore) in a bedsit. However, when Bobby needed a blood transplant, Laura found out that Garry wasn't actually the father, Ian was because even though Ian had a vasectomy, it had not been successful. Laura kept this to herself so she could provide her son with a father figure and started using Gary for sex, but Garry was still in love with Lynne and he and Lynne started to go out again behind everyone's backs in November 2003. Eventually Laura found out and threw Gary out the flat at Christmas.
After Laura died on 30th April 2004, Bobby lived with Garry at the slaters and Lynne managed to accept Bobby as her own. However Pat Evans found Bobby's birth certificate which stated that Ian Beale was the father meaning that Garry had to hand him over to Ian.
Dawn
Garry started having feelings for Dawn Swann after her ordeal with Rob Minter and May Wright when they tried to steal her then unborn baby. So she could relax, Garry took Dawn down for a day trip to Brighton with her daughter Summer Swann. During the day Garry revealed his feelings for Dawn and even proposed to her. Dawn turned him down, but they still remained friends.
When Dawn's fiance Jase Dyer died after being beaten up the night before their wedding on 29th Augutst 2008, Gary was the one who told Dawn that he had died (on her wedding day). After she came to turns with his death, Dawn stripped her clothes off to she could have sex with him, but Garry turned her down knowing she was fragile, leaving a Dawn devastated.
After Gary propose to Dawn and got rejected for the second time, Gary ran away and police found his car and possessions in Dover where a popular suicide spot was. Everyone thought he had died, even though he was in France.
Garry came back to Walford on 17th February 2009 during his tribute was going on for him in the Queen Vic and where Dawn was doing a speech and said that she loved him. At that moment Gary revealed himself saying "rewind, you love me?.
Afterwards, Gary gave Dawn an ultimatum telling her she had till to the end of the night to decide wether she wanted to be with him or not and if she said no, he will leave Walford. Dawn chose to be with Garry and that she loves him.
Garry, Dawn Swann and Summer Swann have been together as a family ever since then.
