Summary
The illegitimate son of Den Watts and Paula Rickman, Dennis was accidently discovered by half-sister Vicki Fowler. Although he was in the nick at the time for GBH, he was soon released and came to stay with Vicki and Sharon Watts. Since his arrival in Walford he has proved 'popular' with the ladies, bedding Kat, Sam, Joanne, Kate and even Sharon - the adopted daughter of his natural father.
Dennis murdered gang-boss Jack Dalton in an emotional confrontation, and was a good foil for his Dad, though their relationship was destroyed when Den impregnated Dennis's girlfriend, Zoe Slater, in an attempt to keep Dennis with Zoe instead of leaving her for Sharon. When Dennis found out, he left Walford in search of Sharon, who returned with him to Walford in July 2005.
Dennis was shocked to hear of Andy Hunter's death and of his own inheritance of the bookies. He enjoyed his engagement to Sharon, if not her quest for their shared father, and married her in August 2005. Den's body having been discovered on their wedding day certainly threw a damper on the celebration. Dennis pressed Sharon to accept the fact that Chrissie had something to hide with respect to Den's murder, but she would not listen until confronted with proof supplied by the Mitchells. The two overcame the marital problems this caused, and, after deciding to sell the Vic, began a new life in a starter flat on the Square.
Dennis and Sharon were thrilled to learn of her pregnancy, which they had believed an impossibility. Even when Dennis learned of Johnny Allen's role in Andy's death, he elected not to pursue revenge, opting instead to leave Walford with Sharon and look forward to the birth of their baby. Hours before they were supposed to leave, Phil Mitchell told Dennis of Johnny's threat to Sharon, and provoked Dennis to the degree that Dennis went to Scarlet and beat Johnny nearly to death. Johnny begged for his life, and Dennis threw him a mobile phone. As the New Year's fireworks lit the sky, Dennis crossed the Square to Sharon and the waiting cab, but he never arrived. He was stabbed in the chest and died right in front of Sharon.
