Jane's gay brother, who arrived in Walford in January 2008 - and who fell out with his brother-in-law Ian Beale almost instantly.
But as Ian's not one to miss on a good business venture, Christian rents the flat at the back of Beale's Plaice at 15 Turpin Road from him.
Christian's best friend in the Square is Roxy Slater. Roxy was initially attracted to him, but was surprised to learn that he was gay, not that it made a difference to their friendship. The two of them are often seen together, gossiping and having fun.
Christian and Ian have a love-hate relationship which verges more on the hate side than anything else. In spite of this, the two of them are in a business partnership together.
When we first saw Christian, he was all set to enter into a civil partnership with his long-term boyfriend, Ashley Jennings. They split up before the event, and Christian ended up moving to Walford. Since then he had a short relationship with Lee Thompson which ended when Lee had a one night stand with a man named Jeph.
On 19 June 2009 it is believed that Christian had a one-night stand with Syed Masood. However despite Christian's insistences that Syed is gay, Syed continues to deny this and continues on with his relationship with Amira, leaving Christian broken hearted. In an attempt to deny that he's gay Syed proposes to Amira and she has accepted his proposal of marriage. Whilst at their engagement party Christian is offended by the way Syed is behaving to him and leaves the party to go to the Vic to drown his sorrows. Whilst there he meets a man called Luke and mis-reads the signals thinking Luke is also gay and so invites Luke back to his flat. Back at Christian's flat Luke beats Christian up after revealing that he is not gay and in fact hates gay men cottaging in public places. Originally Christian refused to go to the police about this but eventually agreed to go to the police station with Syed.
Christian's first mention was when he sent Jane an invitation to his civil partnership ceremony. Jane was not interested in seeing her brother as they have fallen out a few years earlier. Ian, the ever-sensitive soul, put his size nine boots into the middle of that and invited Christian and Ashley to dinner at Fargo's.
As expected, the dinner turned out to be a complete disaster, and was probably the catalyst for them breaking up. Following the break-up, Christian arrived in Albert Square.
Christian isn't exactly the most subtle of people, and when he takes a shine to somebody he makes it quite clear that he's interested. Christian has flirted with Steven a few times and accidentally found Steven wearing a dress (thanks to Stacey) and generally made Steven feel quite uncomfortable.
When Roxy went into premature labour she was going through a difficult time with Sean Slater. The result was that the relationship ended and Roxy decided that she didn't want Sean to play any part in Amy's life. Christian offered to step in as a 'father' to Amy, swearing that he would have nothing more to do with men and chucking his SIM card in the bucket as a result. Christian then decorated his mothers room as a nursery for Amy. However, Roxy and Sean later got back together and Roxy left Christian heartbroken when she announced that he would no longer be Amy's 'dad'. Roxy offered instead to make Christian Amy's Godfather, something which he accepted.
They still remain good friends, but don't seem to spend so much time together anymore because Christian seems to now be thinking that Roxy is just using him.
Christian was in charge of the Beale empire whilst Ian and Jane holidayed in Scotland and found it tough to say the least. Shirley was giving away far too many chips at Beale's Plaice and getting drunk whilst at work. With Christian having to keep an eye on Beale's Plaice, Kathy's Cafe, Masala Queen and run back and forth to the wholesalers, he found it tough to keep on top of everything.
The result was that he had to ask Lucy Beale and Heather Trott to mind the cafe for a couple of hours whilst he went to the wholesalers and checked up on the other businesses. Whilst Lucy and Heather were busy serving customers and chatting, Nick Cotton burst in and took everyone hostage. Threatening everyone with a large wooden pole, Nick kept everyone inside.
Christian wandered past and was stunned to find the cafe shut. He was especially not pleased as he had just walked past Beale's Plaice to find it was also shut and when he looked through the window he found Shirley Carter and some local winos drunk behind the till! When it became apparent there was something more sinister going on at the cafe, some of the locals tried to kick the door in to free everyone but they were unable to do so.
Nick meanwhile was inside brandishing the wooden pole with everyone too scared to tackle him. With neither Heather nor Lucy able to gain access to the kitchen, the chip pan caught fire. When this was pointed out, Ryan jumped on Nick throwing him to the floor and fighting with him to enable everyone to get out. Ryan then escaped himself leaving just Nick bloodied and bruised on the cafe's floor.
Outside the cafe, Bradley Branning decided that he couldn't stand aside with Nick in the cafe and ran back in to rescue him. It was whilst he was trying to do this that Bradley became trapped in the fire himself and the cafe exploded.
Bradley spent a week in hospital before eventually being released. As Nick escaped out the back of the cafe that night he avoided the Police and is still on the run. Ian returned on 22 June 2009, shocked to find the cafe boarded up. On returning home he got an even bigger shock when he found out that the cafe isn't insured.
