Summary
Den Watts' ex-wife Chrissie arrived in Walford just as Angie's Den was about to re-open. Unfortunately she was looking for her share of the proceeds of Den selling their club in Spain, which Den had spent on the refurbishment of Angie's Den (amongst other things). To make matters worse for Chrissie, Den hadn't bothered to tell her about his new ready-made family back in Walford. Chrissie settled down to a life in Walford, where she can keep an eye on Den, and she set up a hair-dressing salon in Kate Mitchell's nail salon, Sophisti-Kates. That partnership ended when she learned of Den's affair with Kate Mitchell.
Chrissie and Den reconciled, primarily because he still owed her money from the club sale, and because of her affection for her stepchildren. Den was soon back to his old ways, and when she discovered that he had impregnated Zoe Slater, she talked Zoe into having an abortion and hatched a plot for revenge. This unexpectedly led to Den's death at her hands, and she has since been covering up her crime. She framed Sam Mitchell for the crime, had an affair with Jake Moon while trying to keep from being discovered. Unfortunately, Johnny recorded her confession of murder via a CCTV monitor in Scarlet. When Sharon saw it, she aided the Mitchells in finding proof of Chrissie's guilt. Chrissie was arrested at the airport when trying to leave the country and imprisoned.
