Storylines

1993-1997

Carol arrived in Waford as Dot Cotton's replacement at the launderette, working alongside Pauline Fowler. She quickly moved onto the square from the nearby Walford Towers, and brought her family with her: partner Alan, his grandmother Blossom and her four children by four different fathers: Bianca (fathered by David Wicks), Robbie (with Gary Bolton), Sonia (with Terry Cant) and Billie (with Alan).

Carol was surprised to see her teenage love David Wicks in Walford, and was hostile towards him and his mother, Pat Butcher. Pat had broken the pair up when they were fourteen, but David didn't know that Carol was pregnant and that Bianca was his daughter. Eventually Carol was forced to tell David as it looked like he and Bianca might get together!

In 1996, Carol and Alan attended her sister April's wedding, but April's fiancé Nikos jilted her, so Carol and Alan married instead. Following this, however, Alan had an affair with Frankie Pierre, and Carol had a fling with David. Carol and Alan were soon back together.

In 1997, Billie was a witness to an armed robbery, and was kidnapped to prevent him for testifying in court. He was returned safely a few days later, and the whole family (apart from Bianca) were put in witness protection. Although Robbie and Sonia returned a few months later, Carol didn't return until 1999.

1999

Carol came back to Walford with a new fiancé in tow, Dan Sullivan, who had (unknown to Carol) had a fling with Bianca a few years previously. It didn't take long for Bianca and Dan to reignite their affair behind Carol and Ricky's backs. Meanwhile, Carol fell pregnant with Dan's baby. This prompted Bianca and Dan to stop their affair. Carol then found an old photo of Bianca and Dan, and questioned her fiancé about it. He told her that they had had a fling years ago. Angry at Bianca for keeping it from her, Carol went round to see her. Not knowing that Dan hadn't told Carol about their affair, Bianca admitted it all to her mother. Carol disowned her daughter, told Ricky about the affair and slung Dan out. She then aborted her baby and left Walford to care for her ding mother, Reenie, leaving her children in the care of her father, Jim.
